CORROSION

The appearance of rust on ferrous parts is the result of simultaneous chemical reactions of oxidation and reduction on the surface of “cathodes” and “anodes” micro-zones.
These reactions can only start and continue if metal ions manage to circulate outside the metal between the “cathodes” and “anodes” zones.
In the most common case, metal ions circulate in the very thin film of water adsorbed on the surface of metals when the relative humidity exceeds 35%.
